Haz-Subs Training

Meet your trainers

Online hazardous substance training,
New Zealand

At Haz-Subs Training, we help businesses protect their teams and meet compliance with flexible, accessible hazardous substances training, promoting safety and efficiency without disrupting operations.

Before the shift to online learning, many industries faced costly disruptions from pulling staff off the job for hazardous substances training.

That’s why, in 2023,  we transformed our expert-developed, in-person training into an accessible online solution, enabling New Zealand businesses to train staff anytime, anywhere.

We remain committed to offering a practical, cost-effective option for compulsory hazardous substances training that doesn’t require businesses to shut down or lose productivity.

Jarrod Graham - Director

I’ve been providing face-to-face hazardous substances training since 2018, but I realised that many clients needed more flexible options for their teams.

That’s why I was involved in developing an online training platform to make the training and resources more accessible, especially for remote teams and health and safety professionals. This way, organisations can train their workers on their schedule, without the hassle of organising in-person sessions.

As one of the Directors of Haz-Subs Training, I handle everything from responding to customer queries to ensuring our training materials stay relevant and practical.

My goal is to provide a practical, straightforward approach to health and safety, making it easier for learners to understand and apply what they’ve learned. I’m passionate about helping people manage hazardous substances effectively, with tools and guidance that make the process as simple as possible.

  • NZ Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety Management (Level 6).

  • NZ Diploma in Management, and a NZ Diploma in Business.

  • Qualified noise assessor.

  • Certified respirator fit tester (Commit2Fit).

  • Professional affiliations with NZISM and HASANZ.

I’ve seen firsthand the need for clear guidance and support in hazardous substances compliance, especially when it comes to meeting legal requirements under workplace regulations. Many in the industry aren’t sure what’s needed to comply, and that’s why I’m passionate about offering assistance that’s practical and user-friendly.

As the Director and a Hazardous Substances Compliance Certifier, I’m actively involved in visiting workplaces across New Zealand to issue Compliance Certifications. My role also includes developing audit materials, providing training, and mentoring to ensure that compliance isn’t just achieved but understood.

With nearly 15 years as an authorised Compliance Certifier through WorkSafe and a background as a Health and Safety enforcement officer with the Department of Labour, I bring a unique perspective to my work.

My experience in enforcement and compliance across a range of industries enables me to provide pragmatic, hands-on support to clients, helping them navigate their regulatory responsibilities confidently.
